Hello everyone,

Eight days remain before the Summit opening on November 8, 2007. The GSU downtown campus is in the latter stages of preparing for your arrival. In this email, I am including info regarding accommodations, transportation to and from the airport, and registration information.

Participant Info:
Summit participants will be divided into 4 working group sessions according to the four summit strands (Policy; Content and Continuity; Theoretical Frameworks; and Impact and Implementation). Workgroup assignments are designed to represent a balance among the six regions of BBA, professions, and summit strands. There will be two session leaders for each of the four workgroup sessions. A separate list of strand assignments and session leaders will follow shortly.

Registration. Registration is now closed. Please email summit@bannekermath.org if you have queries.

Program. A draft schedule of the summit's events has been posted on the summit website at http://www.bannekermath.org/summit07/program. The summit will begin on Thursday, November 8, 2007 with a luncheon for invited participants only at 12:00 p.m.. There will be a buffet lunch with opening remarks. At 1:00, there will be an opening day speech by William Tate. This event only is open to the public. Day One workgroup sessions then follow at 2:30 p.m. Day One ends with a reception for participants and GSU College of Education faculty from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Arrival. We encourage all participants to make individual flight arrangements to arrive in Atlanta and at the hotel by 10:00 a.m. Participants will have to make their own arrangements to get to the hotel. There are several options for this found at www.bannekermath.org/summit07/directions.

Hotel. Hotel arrangements have been made for all out-of-state and out-of-city participants who have registered online. A block of rooms at the Omni Hotel has been contracted for this purpose. You should check in as soon as you arrived. A list of all those who have reservations for the Omni are attached here. This should serve as your confirmation of a reservation. A list of confirmation numbers will be emailed within the next 48 hours (Please wait for this. A first list has been revised and will be reissued). stay at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta, GA.

A GSU shuttle will depart the Omni at 11:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

Shuttle service to hotel from GSU will follow the reception. 8:00 p.m.

Departure (GSU to Airport). We have arranged for a shuttle to provide transportation from GSU campus to the airport leaving at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2007 and arriving at the airport around 5:30 (this is the estimate in traffic). This will be at no cost to participants who are interested. Sign up will be at the registration table. We encourage participants to make departure flights for evening travel (7 p.m. or later on Friday, November 9th. The actual summit will end at 4 p.m.

Reimbursement. We would like for those participants traveling by air and by car to fill out reimbursement forms on Thursday, November 8th so that you can be reimbursed $200 (Mileage reimbursement rates will be utilized for car travelers at the allowable state rate up to $200) on Friday November 9th.
